{Sewing Class Basics #2 ~ Pincushions & Pillowcases!}

My next sewing class is:

 

* When: Saturday, September 8th, 2018 from 1-4 pm OR 5-9 pm These are the same classes. I’m simply offering them at two different times. So you choose which time you’d like to attend. 

* Where: In my sewing studio (Lindsay & Baseline). I'll send you the address after you sign up & pay!

* Cost: $15.

I will send you an invoice through Paypal to pay for the class. You don't have to have a Paypal account to pay through them, just a credit card. Class size is limited so sign up ASAP to reserve your spot. 

* Feel free to share this with a friend if you know someone that is local (Gilbert/Mesa, AZ area) that may be interested. If you can't make this day and time, but would like to sign up, let me know and I can create another class if I have enough interest.

*In this class you’ll choose between two different styles of pincushions or a fun pillowcase. The pillowcases are fun and practical gifts (hint, hint, Christmas will be here before we know it)! If you'd like to make both projects you can sign up for both class time slots and make one in each. 

In this class you will:

*practice straight stitching

*practice corners

*learn how to piece fabrics together

*learn more about seam allowances

*learn about stuffing (pincushion)

*learn very basic hand-sewing (pincushion)

*learn how to hem (pillowcase)

Supplies you'll need to bring:

*Sewing machine

*your machine's manual

*universal needles

*thread to match your fabric 

*fabric scissors - one large pair for cutting fabric and one small pair to use at your machine. The 2nd pair is optional, but very helpful.

*a seam ripper

*straight pins

*small screwdriver (your machine should have come with one)

*bobbins

*fabric for your project (I will send you the amount of fabrics you'll need after you sign up for the class)

*one large button (pincushion)

I will provide the batting and ribbon for the pincushions.

{Jasline's backpack & pouch}

I decided after making backpacks and zipper pouches for the last couple of years that I should offer them as a bundle in my shop, especially since school will be starting soon. 

Jasline, in Singapore ordered this combo within hours after I listed it. She wanted them to coordinate with her baby carrier, which is another great idea.

The backpack is the perfect size for a kids backpack or for a diaper bag. It comes with two large pockets inside, a drawstring closure as well as a large flap with a magnetic snap closure.

{a bow tie & some dress alterations!)

Trevor was my daughter, Miranda's date for Prom this year. She wanted me to make his bow tie to coordinate with their blue converse shoes. I didn't make her dress, but I did do some alterations on it. This is the first time I didn't make a formal for one of my girls. I did shorten this dress and I added the sleeves to it!

{a lime owl cash wallet}

Lindsay L. ordered this wallet.

She wanted owls with teal and lime green. These fabrics I found were perfect for what she wanted!

These wallets have 5 cash pockets, card holders, a zipper pocket for coins and a large pocket for a checkbook or any other larger papers you may want to keep in your wallet.

{a sweet bow tie}

About a month ago I altered a dress for my friend Kaylee.  She found a great deal on a formal dress that, but it needed some alterations.

With the leftover material that I cut off the skirt I was able to make this sweet little bow tie.

{A Fox Purse}

Jessica wanted a purse made with this fun pattern and with foxes (that word doesn't sound correct, but it is!). I found this fun fabric and she loved it so here goes.

This purse has a lot of pockets.  There are 4 inside and one outside.

This was a custom order for Deirdre. She wanted a cash envelope wallet

This wallet has 5 cash pockets and one zipper pocket for coins.  There's more...

When you order a customized cash envelope wallet you can choose the prints and colors.

Each envelope has a custom label that I create according to what you'd like.

Deirdre chose Entertainment, Groceries, Gas, Rosie (for her dog) & Misc.  

  There's also a big pocket behind the coin pocket that you can use for many things, a checkbook, other cash, papers, etc.

And there's 4 credit card pockets, these can also be used for loyalty cards or business cards as well.
