{pink crochet crown}

Photobucket
Little Lizzy came this morning for her 6 month session. I just finished this cute little pink crochet crown just in time to get a few photos of her wearing it. I wasn't sure it was going to fit her, but it was perfect.

{Valentine's welcome sign}

Photobucket
This was my third Valentine's project that I made with the ladies from my ward. Another awesome project from Pinterest.  You can find the tutorial on Then She Made.  I decided to change mine a little & used lots of different red & pink fabrics that I had, and I'm glad I did because I really like how it turned out.

{Valentine Projects}

Photobucket
Last month some ladies from my ward got together to make some fun Valentine's projects. These were some of the ones that I chose to do.  The vinyl was ordered through a deal on GroupOn.  We had to get our own frames for these two projects. So I decided to get some cheap ones & paint & distress them.
Photobucket
The larger, 11x14 frame I got at Goodwill for $3 and the other longer rectangle I got at Walmart for $5.  I had never done this before so I googled how to distress wood frames & I used this tutorial.  I only used 2 colors of paint instead of 3.  I first painted them with red acrylic paint.  Then I rubbed candle wax all over the parts where I wanted the white paint to come off & show the red through.  I could not for the life of me find a candle in my house that wasn't in a glass jar, so I resulted to using one of my Scentsy bars.  It worked great & it didn't use hardly any of the little bar.
Photobucket
This second project was a cute idea I found through Pinterest on the Red Heads Craft More Fun blog, but mine didn't turn out as cute as hers did. I feel like it's missing something.  I think it's all the extra space under the words that I don't like.  I was thinking of taking the heart off & adding a few rosettes or something to counteract the empty space.  Any suggestions?  Please leave a comment & share your ideas.

{Classic baby blanket~photo prop}

Photobucket
I had to mix things up a bit & do a mini blanket. I made this one for a photo prop, to wrap around babies or use as a small blanket under them.   I found the pattern for this blanket at One Little Rayndrop.  I adjusted the original pattern to make it smaller & I did not add the scallop edge.
Photobucket
This one is not for sale, but if you would like to order a mini blanket they are $30 + shipping.  It measures 23" x 14.5", and you can choose the color you would like.  To order, email me at chelscraps@yahoo.com.

{Welcome to Simple Stitches}

Photobucket
Hello everyone, welcome to my new blog.
You can find my previous crafting experiences at my old blog, Simply Crafting.
I will be sharing my many adventures in crafting here, most of which consists of sewing, and crochet (at the moment).  I design my own purse/bag patterns & do take custom orders for those.  You can see most of my bags here.  I also like to dabble in many other craftings such as scrapbooking/paper crafting, cross-stitch.  I have done a little bit of tole-painting & quilting many years ago, but would like to do more of that in the future.
I am also a photographer. You can see my work at Rachelle Smith Photography.  I specialize in on-location, natural light photography & I have to say newborns & high school seniors are my favorite, but I also love to photography families.
